The Holy Resurrection Feast of Jesus Christ our Lord – 5th May

“Christ is risen, Truly He is risen!”

On Sunday May 5th, the Holy Church and faithful community flocked to Liturgy in order to celebrate the Holy Resurrection Feast of our Lord & Saviour.

After 50-days of fasting, hundreds poured in to supplicate, offer their prayers and give thanks on this, the most important day on the Liturgical calendar. The Holy Church offered Divine Liturgy, festive procession, aswell as the observance of the narrative of the ‘Angel & Titus the thief’

The Liturgy this year was consecrated by Fr. Sargon (Aramaic), and Fr. Daniel (English) and also received a special overseas telegram from His Grace, our Bishop, Mar Mari Emmanuel in Jerusalem, who bestowed his paternal blessings upon Christians.

We thank local businesses for their kind donations, including children’s toys, which were distributed at the end of Mass to youngsters.

His Grace Bishop Mar Mari, Priests, Deacons, Nuns, and Church committees of Christ the Good Shepherd Church take this opportunity to wish all Christians a blessed Feast of Resurrection and Week of Weeks. – Christ is risen!

The Washing of the Disciples Feet, Passover Thursday Eve Prayer Service – 2nd May 2024

“Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. 15 I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.” – John 13:1-17 The Church beseeches the sovereign King, Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ, whom on this day, 2,000 years ago, offered the Passover to His disciples and set in order a new institution of service. In washing His disciples’ feet, Jesus ultimately taught them to be equals among one another. The Church commemorates the act in the ceremony of washing of feet of twelve of our finest Sunday School Students who each took an equal role as Jesus’ disciples. We pray all families come and unite in Christ in honour of the example of service each other.

Palm Sunday Procession – 28th April 2024

“So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet Him, crying out, ‘Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel!’” – John 12:13 Devout faithful members of the Church held their olive and palm branches high during Palm Sunday celebrations on Sunday 28th April as students of Divine Heart Sunday School led the Holy procession chanting ‘Hosanna!’ A humble procession consisting of Priests, Deacons, committees and faithful made their circuit inside & outside the Cathedral of Sts. Simon & Mary in observance to Holy Passion Week entrance. May the glorious entrance of our Lord into Jerusalem remind us once more of our commitment to the season in prayer, fasting and steadfast faith.

التقى سيادة المطران مار ماري عمانوئيل بالسيد ادريس مدير دائرة الهجرة في محافظة توكات ، تحدثوا عن احوال اللاجئين الموجودين في تركيا كما ايضاً تحدثوا عن احوال معيشتهم وظروفهم والكثير من الامور الاخرى ، وعبر السيد ادريس عن شكره وترحيبه بسيادة المطران مار ماري عمانوئيل القادم من استراليا سيدني ليلتقي باللاجئين وتفقد أحوالهم في تركيا مع الشكر والتقدير .

His Grace Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel met with Mr. Idris, Director of the Immigration Department in Tokat Governorate. Discussions involved the conditions of the refugees in Turkey, their living conditions and over all general circumstances. Mr. Idris expressed his gratitude and welcomed His Grace Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel, for coming all the way from Sydney Australia to understand first hand the plight of the refugees in Turkey. Both parties exchanged thanks and promised to work collaboratively together to support the refugees in Tokat and surrounding regions.

The charity of Love bringing us together in Istanbul, Turkey, visited the wounded due to the tragedy that happened to our people in Baghdida and looked at their needs and the conditions of the patients to determine possible ways of support. The number of wounded in the hospital was 16 receiving treatments.

We ask the Lord for healing for all our beloved patients. We thank the Church Christ the Good Shepherd from Sydney Australia for their cooperation with us
